Deck Step Redesign - Peters Residence - Chatham, MA

The exitsting deck staircase was too narrow. Dain Stephens Design was contracted to extend the steps to run the entire length of the 24' wide deck and double the tread width. This helped enlarge the backyard area by creating an open space and a seemless transition between the deck and the yard. In addition, it was discovered during the project that the deck's framing had been underbuilt creating an unsafe condition. Dain brought this to the attention of the homeowner and resolved the situation by restructuring the deck supports.
